A tragic incident has claimed the life of Harsh Bardhan, a 26-year-old IPS officer from Karnataka, just as he was about to begin his career. Harsh, a resident of Madhya Pradesh, had recently completed his training and was traveling to take up his first posting in Hassan district when the accident occurred on Sunday. The police vehicle that he was traveling in reportedly experienced a tire burst, forcing the driver to lose control. The vehicle then ran into a house and a tree by the roadside.
Harsh sustained severe head injuries during the crash, and, despite efforts to save him, he died in the hospital. The driver of the vehicle suffered only minor injuries. Images taken from the scene revealed the extent of the damage caused to the vehicle, with the wreckage showing the severity of the crash.
The untimely death has left the state in mourning as Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah expressed his condolence, terming it devastating, especially when Harsh’s years of hard work had finally led to his first posting. “This should not have happened when years of hard work were paying off,” he wrote on social media, praying for the officer’s soul to rest in peace.

Former Karnataka Chief Minister Sadananda Gowda has also condoled the death, terming it a “tragic loss.” Harsh’s death left the IPS community and his family to bear the agony of losing a promising officer just when he was about to start his journey in service to the state. His death has underlined the vagaries of life and the risks that officers face during their service.
