The IPL 2025 mega auction held in Jeddah on November 25 saw the Rajasthan Royals pick up Nitish Rana for Rs 4.20 crore. Rana has been a crucial player for the Kolkata Knight Riders since 2018.
It is understandable given the regard and respect that KKR management has for him and the impact he made on the team that he was expected to get a bid from them for retention; however, they did not even keenly seek him out during the auction. Many of his fans were taken aback by KKR’s decision not to utilize their Right to Match (RTM) card to keep Rana, and this sparked a heated discussion.
This dismissal seems not to have been welcomed by Rana’s wife, Saachi Marwah, who took to the X platform to write a rather mysterious post in relation to how one should not be overly loyal in professional sporting competitions.
