When DaphoDILL wrote “Put That In The Press”, she wasn’t just making music — she was carving testimony into history. DaphoDILL’s lyrics are not simply bars over a beat. They are living evidence of how Mississippi, the United States, and their institutions have destroyed Black lives, silenced Black voices, and manipulated Black children into outcomes they engineered long before she, and other black bodies, ever had a chance. Her music is survival, yes, but it’s also a warning — a direct indictment of schools, courts, politicians, and the military structures that thrive on Black suffering while denying their own crimes.
For many years, these institutions and states like Mississippi, have aimed for criminalization of black bodies as children. Racism was taught to white people, while the distortion of racism was taught to black children. As many history books, aimed to white-wash the history books, and teach launching as a message, when defying racial bias and structured policies. DaphoDILL was one of those children. As a young age, DaphoDILL, was mistreated by white authority figures, as they aimed to pre-criminalize and cause preemptive framing of her, as many other children. Many of the white authority figures in DaphoDILL’s life, sent her, down a path, they engineered and created for her, as a young black, gay, and intelligent young woman, and carried their racial hate into her life for years. Even the use of technology, had been getting used on DaphoDILL, since she was a child and minor, by “racist” white school teachers, as they experimented on her, and other students, in the school house, taking away her “Human Rights”, at a very young she. When you hear, “Ed Snowden, Human Rights, How You Like That Lean”, in her lyricism, it was a closed-caption, on real world politics, and experiences that she had growing up in the state of Mississippi. Many of these white school teachers, started DaphoDILL out as early as 11, to break her down, to fit their own racial hate. As DaphoDILL mentions the use of surveillance involving Edward Snowden, an NSA Contractor, that whistle blew on surveillance technology being used on the citizens, that were truthful indictments on the United States Government, as they still still claimed plausible deniability, and it was still true. The United States themselves lie under oath, to hide what is being used in the country, on its citizens, but claim freedom and protection for it’s citizens. DaphoDILL, was engineered, at a young age, to be pushed toward criminalization, of drug and alcohol usage, tattoos, caregiving of children, and educational opportunities missed, because a “racist” white school teacher, decided DaphoDILL’s future, as a minor, as she carried out her plans for her life, even leading her into the military, to cover-up what she had been doing to DaphoDILL, for years. This causing nothing but chaos, missed relationships, damaged relationships, etc, where DaphoDILL, had no “free-will”, her entire life, but only to take the guidance of a schoolteacher, they had been using the technology on DaphoDILL, for her own satisfaction, and do it “externally”. External mentioned to DaphoDILL, by those who knew immediately, how it was done and being used on her, to create patterns in her life, by white school teachers, involving her black and gay life. Erasing the knowledge from DaphoDILL’s mind, and steering her, into nothing but isolation, as these racial white professionals, often made sure, DaphoDILL, was abused and neglected in her childhood, often. Showing the instant targeting and premeditation of her, as a student in schools, in the state of Mississippi.
White educators weaponize classrooms to distort what racism really is. They tell children that racism is just “hurt feelings” or “old history,” while simultaneously creating environments that criminalize Black kids as early as age 12 or less. They do this while protecting white students — calling them “gifted,” giving them opportunities, and letting their mistakes slide. Meanwhile, Black children are targeted, labeled “dirty,” “troubled,” “delusional,” and funneled into the school-to-prison pipeline. This is not incompetence; it’s design. Mississippi schools didn’t just tolerate racist teachers; they kept them because they were useful to the system. Often times, as DaphoDILL, was singled out, for harsher punishment, because she really was naturally gifted, and many students, not even black ones, suffered tragic education disadvantages, intentionally, because many white educators, could stand to see a young, black, gay, smart, child, outsmart them; when many were in their 40’s, 50’s, and 60’s, teaching her, and testing her knowledge and intelligence, against their grown self’s and degrees, as many college students, like them struggle to obtain those degrees, and many went to segregated schools, or partially integrated ones, and still these professionals are let around black children, knowing they don’t like “Black” or “Gay” people.
DaphoDILL, speaks with authority, as Mississippi has always tried to pretend that racism is something that died with Jim Crow, but the truth is clear: it simply evolved. Instead of white hoods, it’s white lab coats, white therapists, white judges, white people in uniforms, and white teachers with unchecked racial authority over Black children. DaphoDILL’s own life is proof. As a child, she endured daily erasure at the hands of racist educators, and even black ones, who didn’t want to teach her, but to tamper with her. White educators literally tampered with, and moved her physical brain, erased her memory, coerced, and manipulated her behavior, thoughts, speech, and impulses — leaving her with a traumatic brain injury, as a minor, while laughing at her pain. Going as far as, tampering with her natural intelligence, the mechanics of her growing body, and athletics, that came natural to her, and she was naturally good at, so that many white kids, could be ahead of her, in athletics, academics, and body structure, to shame DaphoDILL, that she should “stay in her place”, as a black child, as white authority figures, aimed to control her very life; not for confidence, but for racial control, to humiliate and humble her, against their power structure, and tech-abuse. They weren’t teaching her lessons; they were manufacturing her silence, pre framing her early, dehumanizing her, killing her confidence, and criminalizing her existence. Making sure she would never be able to talk, or have credibility, in her entire life, but their manufactured behavior, and false narratives, they engineered and steered early on, to be used later as evidence against her, as many black children go through. Manufactured behavior to say, “She was always like that”, but in reality she wasn’t, that narrative was created long before she ever knew, and long before she could comprehend, what was happening to her, because those in authority made sure DaphoDILL, would never have awareness.
DaphoDILL’s lyrics, “Who started those wars, America or the U.S. Got black kids signing up, thinking it’ll pay for the rest, we still living in hell, b**, where’s the redress?” That line gets to the heart of how militarism, poverty, and systemic racism intersect. The wars of the United States, whether in Iraq, Afghanistan, or beyond, are often framed as noble or necessary, but the human cost is rarely borne equally. Black youth, disproportionately targeted by military recruiters in underfunded schools and communities with limited economic opportunity, are sold the promise of college tuition, job training, and a ticket out of poverty. In reality, they are asked to fight and die in conflicts they did not start, while their families remain trapped in cycles of disenfranchisement, incarceration, and neglect at home. The demand for “redress” in that lyric is not just about veterans’ benefits, but about the deeper moral and historical debt America owes to Black communities—who have fought in every war for freedoms they were denied in their own country. It calls out the hypocrisy of a nation that recruits its most marginalized to defend “freedom” abroad while refusing to dismantle the racial, economic, and social hell it maintains at home. Especially, how they used LGBTQIA+ community bodies, as weapons against themselves, turning their Gay bodies against them, for amusement, and pleasure of their own sick and twisted beliefs and minds.
DaphoDILL, making it plain and simple, “Got lawyers, cops, and judges siding against you in the fixture.” From schoolhouses to courtrooms, Mississippi engineered her outcomes. They walked her body, into situations she didn’t consent to using surveillance and technology, then saved that “evidence” to use against her later. They created impulses she never wanted, staged interactions, tampered memory, and called it justice. That’s not protection; that’s psychological entrapment. And what’s worse, even chaplains, educators, military officials, and VA staff watched it unfold, acknowledging she finally had “awareness” — but actively complicit in the abuse.
As America loves to scream about protecting children, but let’s be real: that protection was never meant for Black children. This is a country that stole land from Native Americans, killed their children, and then had the audacity to sell them their land back. They enslaved Africans, brutalized generations, and still rely on those methods — only now with technology, psychiatry, and legal frameworks. When white teachers tamper with Black kids’ minds, they call it discipline. When white parents abuse their own children, they hide behind institutions. But when Black kids struggle under racist setups, the state labels it “child endangerment.” That’s hypocrisy weaponized.
Mississippi is the breeding ground for this hypocrisy. The same state that murdered Emmett Till, at age 14, denied Black citizens their right to vote, and celebrated Confederate legacies is the state that shaped DaphoDILL and many others’ lives. They wanted DaphoDILL to be their “dirty Black girl,” so they engineered outcomes that fit that disgusting narrative. They distorted her education, tampered with her life, tampered with her athletics, sabotaged her natural talents, and punished her for being both Black and gay. Instead of nurturing her, they prepared her for prison, telling her long before she was grown that this was where she would end up. That wasn’t a warning — that was a plan. For any adult to physically tamper with a minor’s brain, for pleasure, is sick, that’s exactly what this “racist” white teacher did to DaphoDILL, to teach her lessons about “racism”, “hatred”, and “humbling”, because DaphoDILL, was just that talented, and many couldn’t fathom to see it.
And yet, these same institutions scream about “No Child Left Behind,” “Black Lives Matter,” or “Gay Rights” when it benefits their image. Her music cuts into that double standard. “Gun shots going off, a body found on the scene. In a racist world built on nothing but eternal greed.” Those aren’t just lyrics — that’s truth. Black children die, Black women are raped, Black veterans are silenced, while America pats itself on the back for progress, it never truly delivered. Even showing the LGBTQIA+ community that many, White LGBTQIA+ voices steal style, culture, and credibility from Black queer communities, then reinforce the same racism and exclusion against them.
They want to pretend these abuses are individual, but DaphoDILL’s life, and music, proves it’s systemic. The VA eradicating her testimony and defenses, therapists twisted her words, and Mississippi Guard officials retaliating against her, when she reported harassment and racism. Then speak on calling the “cops”, the same police officers, entrenched in Mississippi’s racist policies and corruption, than call it “due process”. A process that was tainted from the beginning. When she reached out to the FBI, they did nothing. When she asked news outlets for help, they went silent. Even the VA OIG admitted the truth: “Are you sure it’s not about control? Control?” Yes, it is about control — controlling her voice, her survival, her very humanity. That statement wasn’t protection. It was a confession.
When DaphoDILL talked about Russia’s constitution versus the United States’, She was exposing the contradiction, in how America claims to be the global champion of democracy, while often failing to uphold the very rights it guarantees on paper. Then claim their paper trail fits and sticks, when their paperwork, was to abuse and continue to abuse Black People. The Russian Constitution, written after the Soviet collapse, explicitly names rights to housing, healthcare, and education as fundamental—while the U.S. Constitution, though older and celebrated as “timeless,” is silent on those basic social guarantees. America prides itself on the Bill of Rights, but those freedoms ring hollow for marginalized groups who are over-policed, under-protected, and systematically excluded from equal opportunity. The U.S. often points to authoritarian regimes like Russia to highlight abuses abroad, yet at home Black people, LGBTQIA+ people, and whistleblowers like me are silenced, criminalized, or retaliated against when we demand justice. The contrast isn’t to glorify Russia, but to hold up a mirror: how can the U.S. call itself the land of the free if it refuses to redress slavery, Jim Crow, systemic racism, and ongoing abuses against its own citizens? Comparing constitutions shows the hypocrisy—America’s words may be older and more famous, but rights on paper mean little if in practice the government selectively enforces them, weaponizes them, creates the events needed for a “paper trail”, so they can weaponize it more, against a target, or outright denies them to those who need them most.
This is why “Put That In The Press” is more than a song. It is a weapon against systemic white supremacy, a record of evidence, and a warning to those who believe they can erase her, or any black life. Every verse, every bar is testimony. From “Rest in peace to Sandra Bland, I know the cops killed you”, to her indictment of “ Jim Crow still alive in the picture”, her music connects today’s abuses to centuries of oppression. It documents that nothing has changed — only the tactics. Where they once used whips and chains, now they use psychiatric labels, surveillance tech, advanced tech, and engineered narratives, just to continue their hatred for black lives.
