Fitness influencer, businesswoman, and reality TV personality Krishna Shroff is in the news again with her entry into the reality show Chhoriyan Chali Gaon, a reality show that promises to send its participants on a rural sojourn far from their city comforts. After her experience on Khatron Ke Khiladi, where she had wowed viewers with her adventurous nature, Krishna is now taking up a completely new challenge — staying in a secluded village for 60 days and embracing the unadulterated pulse of village life.
In an honest recent chat with the Times of India, Krishna Shroff spoke about why she decided to be a part of this unusual show and about how her family members, particularly her father Jackie Shroff and brother Tiger Shroff, were taken aback by the news.
“My Father Was So Thrilled…”
When questioned about her father’s reaction to her new endeavor, Krishna was gleeful. “My dad was so excited when he found out about this. He was like, ‘You have to do this.’ Everything that he stands for, everything that he advocates for, this show speaks about that,” Krishna explained. For those who know Jackie Shroff’s passion for the natural world and living close to it, the reaction does not come as a surprise.
The veteran actor, known for his ‘bindaas’ attitude and deep connection with Indian traditions, has often expressed his admiration for simple living and staying connected to one’s roots. Krishna feels that this experience will allow her to bond with her father on a deeper level. “I feel like by going through this process, I’ll get to know him better,” she added.
Tiger Shroff’s Protective Instincts Kicked In
Whereas her father was overjoyed, brother Tiger Shroff opted for a more prudent response. “My brother was like, ‘Are you sure you want to do this?’ He knows how much I love my comfort,” Krishna disclosed. Famous for her penchant for fitness, luxury, and contemporary living, this rural-based format is clearly an uncharacteristic deviation for Krishna.
Tiger’s worry was born out of concern — he understands his sister. “He was just ensuring that I was mentally ready for what was to come,” Krishna explained, recognizing the sibling relationship between them. “We may be different in certain ways, but we always think about the other person.”
A Mother’s Worry and Silent Support
Krishna also spoke about how Ayesha Shroff reacted to the news of her daughter living in a village for two months. “My mother is thrilled at the thought but worried at the separation,” Krishna said. “We are close. This separation is new to both us, but I think we will come out of this stronger.”
Despite the concern, Krishna believes that stepping away from her family and comfort zone will help her grow. “I’ll return stronger and more independent,” she stated with conviction.
Why Krishna Signed Up for Chhoriyan Chali Gaon
At first glance, Krishna Shroff does not appear to be the most likely contender for a show that sheds the comforts of contemporary living. However, look closely, and her choice is a story of self-discovery and transformation.
“With me, it’s not about moving out of comfort for the sake of it — it’s about pushing myself. I believe growth occurs when you’re not comfortable,” Krishna said. Having overcome her fears on Khatron Ke Khiladi, she found that she had a liking for experience that challenges her to do more. The next logical step? A show that will cut her off from her world completely.
Spending 60 days living in a village — cooking on chulhas, carrying water from wells, experiencing the traditional way of life — is not just programming; it’s a life-changing experiment. Krishna confessed she is excited to experience the “real desi lifestyle” and see for herself the depth of India’s grass-roots culture.
Reality TV: A Space Krishna Finds “Raw, Real, and Fun
While other celebrities shy away from revealing their true selves to the public, Krishna welcomes it. “I love reality space — it’s raw, real, and fun,” she said. With fiction, where you act a character, reality shows provide her the avenue to be herself without apologies.
“It’s a dream to be able to be yourself and get paid for it,” she said with a grin. Krishna also wanted to stress how much she loved linking up with people who know her as “just Krishna” and not necessarily as a celebrity family member or glamour. “I like it when people know me. It gives me an opportunity to introduce myself as myself.”
What To Expect from Chhoriyan Chali Gaon
Scheduled to launch on August 3, Chhoriyan Chali Gaon will be presented by the very famous Rannvijay Singh Singha himself, who is no new hand at breaking barriers and living the rural way on television. With a group of city influencers and celebrities, the show will put them in a completely foreign world. From doing the daily chores to learning the traditions of the village, the show is poised to challenge their flexibility, determination, and mental strength.
Krishna Shroff’s acting stint in Chhoriyan Chali Gaon is yet another entry in her expanding list of daring choices. Though the name ‘Shroff’ holds some importance, Krishna is forging her own niche
